I'm just experimenting. I hate the word "blog" and am fascinated with how the net seems to nurture *everyone's* vanity.

I appreciate the value of a refit as part of getting ready for release, but the change to a black background for the forums is awful, at least for readability.

The new home page looks sharper and the black is OK there because it isn't a big reading thing. But please, please, please tweak this tweak so we don't have to read white on black forum threads for the game's life cycle.

No you're saying they are, I'm saying that people who say its 'crap' are.

And Headaches and physical discomfort, oh please, come on and get real....

I am being real, and I'm not the only one experiencing it. What we've got in this thread is people posting feedback and having a discussion... and you being a troll.

Man, you guys are killing me. Who gives a shit about the color when most of us (using IE 7 & 8 ) CAN'T MAKE NEW POSTS. The colors are IRRELEVANT when posting functionality is Screwed!!!

So don't be an ass and go make a new thread. This is a thread about the color scheme, it says so in the topic. If you have a problem with posting, go make a new thread and stop trolling this one.

I'd be HAPPY TO but I CAN'T MAKE A NEW THREAD. And...I'm Not being an ass...nice to see that maturity shining through there Anna...

Since we're in a thread dedicated specifically to the color scheme, the color scheme is in fact highly relevant. Anything else is off topic... like your posts.

Hell, the color scheme problem isn't easily fixed. Your problem is: upgrade to a modern, non-obsolete PoS browser. Problem solved.

Tridus...seeing as how EVERY PC put out that's running Windows is using IE by default, I'd think calling it "Obsolete" is a matter of Opinion...wouldn't you? Seriously...I thought you were more mature then this too then to jump on the hate bandwagon...

I've resolved the issue with the logo sitting on top of the links in IE7 and IE8 (with compatibility mode on).  I've also changed the colors around a bit.  The backgrounds are a bit more golden/brownish and the text is a bit more yellow.  Thanks to Das123 for the suggestions

Cya then....
Since the whole point of a game website is to encourage people to come read and post, this is entirely the wrong attitude.
Surely the point is to encourage the RIGHT type of people...
So you're saying that long time contributors like GW and Luckmann who are getting headaches from the color scheme are the "wrong" kind of people?

Really, if a website design is causing physical discomfort for users, that's a clear indication something is wrong with the design.

I'm real, and I know better than you if I have headaches after less than 10 minutes. I still endure the pain because I want to read the infos, but for sure I'll be less present on the forum if it's so painfull.

EDIT : thanks bara, it's less painfull, but still ... is it so hard to create css files to choose from ? I understand the will to stay with the elemental design, but I'd like to have choice.

Just because something is common doesn't mean it's not technologically obsoelete. In terms of standards support and the UI, IE is absolute garbage. It's the worst browser on the planet.Corporate IT likes it because Corporate IT usually has badly written internal applications that require IE's proprietary or buggy behaviour to work, and they'd rather not spend the money to fix their stuff.

And you were the one who came in to a thread about the color scheme causing eyestrain and saying that it wasn't a real problem to a bunch of people experiencing that very problem, Raven. Just what kind of reaction did you expect? It should be pretty obvious even to you that the people complaining of headaches due to the color scheme do in fact care about the color scheme.

no - the logo is still sitting on top of everything, and if anything the text is harder to read.

Can we please return to the old setting where no-one complained about colors, or give us options to do so?

edit: And RavenX, I'm sorry but you really are coming off as a bit of an ass right now, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

editedit: Sorry, I replied to the wrong post for some reason? Anyways, logo is fixed on my end as well, was probably cached stuff - at least then thats good, thanks!

Bara, this new background color is the color of baby crap....just my opinion, but the black was way better. I feel like I'm typing out a reply on the inside of a dirty diaper now...

I only posted about the other problems because I was UNABLE to start a new thread about the title. The most important part of my post was this:

"From what I've seen the colors all come down to our Personal Tastes, our individual Opinions. I could say that I think only the old people with bad eyes are whining about the color change. Or I could say only nerds don't like Black Backgrounds with Red text....but I'm not going to say that and that's Not how I feel on the matter. It's also Not Cool to down people or call them names (even indirectly) because they may or may not like the new colors. I think we're all mature enough (or should be anyway) not to down on each other because some of us like the new colors and some don't."

I was pointing out that ALL of US should be mature enough not to down on other people because they do or don't like the new color scheme. So yeah, I expected Mature, Non-Hateful, replies...gee sorry

Sorry, but I call shennanagins. The very first thing you said was this:

Man, you guys are killing me. Who gives a shit about the color

In a thread about the color featuring people getting headaches from the color, that was bloody arrogant and aggressive. It wasn't "mature and non-hateful" at all. If what you really wanted was to draw attention to the other issue, you could have done it without starting off by attacking the on topic posters. You don't get to back out now and blame other people.

Don't all of Stardock's websites have various color schemes to match the games the sites are for? Last time I checked the GalCiv 2 and Sins forums they both had black backgrounds and for some reason the forums are Still Very Active and you don't see a bunch of people complaining. WinCustomize has it's own color scheme too which is followed on That Site. I don't see the problem with the Elemental site being black while the WinCustomize site is white or blue or gray or whatever. If you don't like browsing the Elemental forums then browse the WinCustomize forums, problem solves.

Personally, and this is my Opinion, I like the new look of the Elemental site. It's sleek and cool looking and definitely has a much more "Magical" look to it if you ask me. It fits the Game nicely, which is I suspect the reason for the change (that and the game is less than a month from launch).

So how come the GalCiv 2 forums and Sins forums aren't spammed to hell on a daily basis with complaints about the color schemes? Probably because those sites looked the way they did from the start. People tend to complain when changes are made and that's when those changes get the most "notice", when they're New Changes. It's human nature to complain about change. A lot of people don't like change of any kind because they are set in their ways. Still, I don't see why it would matter if someone on WinCustomize is complaining about what the "Elemental" site looks like, or why it would matter if someone on the Elemental site was complaining about what the GalCiv 2 site looked like. Each game's individual web sites should be allowed to have their own look without the entire community on every Stardock site getting it's panties in a wad.

The only people who's opinions should matter on what the "Elemental" site looks like should be the people ON the Elemental Site. The only people who should have the right to complain about what the WinCustomize site looks like are the people ON the WinCustomize site. It's rather asinine for people on different sites to be complaining about what other sites look like when technically they aren't even ON the sites they are complaining about. It's like people on MySpace complaining that they don't like the look of Facebook. Would Stardock change the game mechanics of Elemental because people who aren't playing the game are complaining about it? No, that would be stupid. As someone who keeps %99 of his posts on the Elemental forums I shouldn't have the right to complain about what another Stardock site looks like, and if I do complain then my complaint shouldn't be taken seriously unless I'm ON the site I'm complaining about. It's just common sense.

Yes Tridus, I agree with you there. As  said before, I only complained about the Logo and Non-Functionality in This Thread because I was UN-Able to post a NEW Thread on the subject. It doesn't matter as Bara has fixed the logo and functionality issue . Now we just need to get this baby poo backgroud color to be changed.

And it's NOT Shenanigans as both my comments are in the Same Post. If someone would have Read the Entire post instead of just quoting the first sentence they would have seen that. There's no shenanigans there my friend

You are rather passive-aggressive in your posts, RavenX, which is what people react to. Its not very nice to read them when the prevalent feeling is you being rather condescending and really not very mature

Look at your own posts for maturity content. You get what you deserve Funny, I remember you agreeing with me on that in another thread..
