I'm just experimenting. I hate the word "blog" and am fascinated with how the net seems to nurture *everyone's* vanity.

Evil did me right by starting his own thread on the "what's a thief" question. But a few posts later in that Grammar nazi sprawl thread, QuietlyObserving says "If we are to be a society founded on the Rule of Law, it would be prudent to maintain a healthy respect for language and the meaning of words, lest we slip into a dictatorship of unelected Judges."

This gives me a painfully beautiful opportunity to start a sister thread to Evil's, and ask you all to sink your fangs, fingers, etc., into the basic question "How does a law rule without a human to interpret and/or execute it?"

That's my latest hasty attempt at a longstanding interest in the gov't-of-law-and-not-men notion that's very popular here in the US. I've also known a few linguists and flirted with other philosphies enough to be taken aback by anyone who has too much certainty about the meaning of a particular word or phrase.

Unless you're a minor with parents who don't want you seeing PG-13 movies (I know we have some sharp youth out there, just want to respect your folks), I suggest finding and playing fword.wav before you finish a reply here.

greatemperor you forget about the three armed roman solders

and the taboo of the jews against touching a dead body and all of the other so called savors who were said to rise from the dead

Who Christ is, his presence on Earth, his sacrifice and resurrection are all suposed to be impossible.

Consider the darkest, most decrepid centre of a large city, imagine a buitiful flower growing from between the cracks in the endless concrete. Imagine a starving child in Africa, struggling to survive in the desert, imagine that child speaking words of great wisdom. Imagine a world full of sinners all doomed, imagine God choosing to sacrifice himself to save them. These things which should be impossible that happen and are of such great beauty as to bring tears to ones eyes.

What is it about the impossible happening that can be so beautiful?

Understand that and you will understand God, what he seeks. 'the stone that the builders rejected'.

i have to agree with the spirit of this

I do believe in his existance, and in his influence. But, rather than seeing him as prophet for some God, i see him as a leader of yet another struggling people. He was indeed wise, but in my opinion carried no supernatural strenght. Instead hes used his own strengths as a human being to unite people in what he believed was real.

Either that or he was a schizophranic(sp?) as many of the messangers of God in our modern world are.
on Jan 23, 2007
i guess then the question is who is and who isn't schizphranic then

and those who are schizphranic which ones may actually have contact with god

or should i say who god has contact with

I considered this possibility once. After watching the davinci code movie i got to thinking. It occured to me that if Jesus had 'special' DNA as suggested in the movie, then what was the point of God becomming man? Jesus came here to be human, 'son of man', not some kind of genetic superbeing.

The supernatural powers he comanded are there for all of us. 'if you have faith as small as a mustard seed you could command that mountain to be cast into the sea and it would be done'.

Most of them are proven dillusional, but some of the greatest men and women and history have been lead to achieve even greater things on their basis. Its just a lot of times, without medicine these people arent functional in society.

i don't remember which one it was but one of the apostles also walked on water until he looked down and got scared

personally i think everyone is dillusional

I forgot to add in my previous post... yes i believe Jesus was completely human, even if you found his DNA it would be human, his spirit however, ooooh boy, completely different story!!!!

I wonder if Jesu's DNA would be inperfect like any human's?? Well, he came here to be human so i am leaning towards believing his DNA would not be perfect?

True but i wonder if Jesus needed to be genetically as well as spiritually perfect in order for his perfect sacrifice to be acceptable?

I guess faulty DNA dousn't make you sinful, or does it? I hear some people are borne with both male and female sex organs. So what would be the difference between mildly faulty DNA and extremely faulty DNA in God's eyes? their both imperfect, and i carn't imagine God accepting Jesus sacrifice if he had such extreme faulty DNA.... hmm so perhaps he did have to be genetically perfect?

no bad dna would not have nullified the sacrifice

The coding in DNA is hard to comprehend. Technically we all have the propensity to have mental or physical disfunctions. But, thanks to its complexity usually one 'trait' overpowers another. But, that means we have a chance to pass it our children or to have them pass it onto their children and so on. And actually most of our mental disposition and our personality are highly dictated by our genetic predisposition. What we start out with is just weeded out and 'perfected' by societies morals and the external enviorment. We are never really 'individuals' rather we are either puppets of our genes, or cornered into a strict path by our enviorment. In either case, schizphrenia is caused by a chemical imblanace of (i think) dopamine in the brain. What happens is dopamine floods the synapses(gaps between the nerve cell's axon) and makes the nerve send false messages of things seen or heard. Producing the illusion of voices or figures that arent really there. Other times its more of a psychological thing, where the person is conditioned by their enviorment to percieve something in false light causing dillusions, or visions of a false personality. Such as, thinking you are Napoleon or Jesus.

you going to watch the state of the union

Another thing, theres no such thing as bad DNA, we all have relitively the same DNA. In other words its damaged DNA, most of the time this happens during the division of the sex cells in the sex organs, where the cells fail to replicate properly therefore causing either too much DNA or too little.
