I'm just experimenting. I hate the word "blog" and am fascinated with how the net seems to nurture *everyone's* vanity.

Evil did me right by starting his own thread on the "what's a thief" question. But a few posts later in that Grammar nazi sprawl thread, QuietlyObserving says "If we are to be a society founded on the Rule of Law, it would be prudent to maintain a healthy respect for language and the meaning of words, lest we slip into a dictatorship of unelected Judges."

This gives me a painfully beautiful opportunity to start a sister thread to Evil's, and ask you all to sink your fangs, fingers, etc., into the basic question "How does a law rule without a human to interpret and/or execute it?"

That's my latest hasty attempt at a longstanding interest in the gov't-of-law-and-not-men notion that's very popular here in the US. I've also known a few linguists and flirted with other philosphies enough to be taken aback by anyone who has too much certainty about the meaning of a particular word or phrase.

Unless you're a minor with parents who don't want you seeing PG-13 movies (I know we have some sharp youth out there, just want to respect your folks), I suggest finding and playing fword.wav before you finish a reply here.

we all know that god was before the big bang and guess what so were we
on Jan 20, 2007
We dont 'all know' the fact that you blantently stated that without proof makes that whole statement false. We cant truely prove what came first. Its the chicken came before the egg paradox all over again
on Jan 20, 2007
but i can prove god

the proof is water

i will let you discuss this for a while see if any of you get it
on Jan 20, 2007
oh and to answer the question about the chicken and the egg paradox

if you believe god created everything then the chicken came first

if you believe everything evolved then the egg came first
on Jan 21, 2007
And the explanation to that being?
And what does water have to do with anything?
on Jan 21, 2007
if god created everything then he would have had to create the chicken first to take care of the egg

if the chicken evolved from another bird then the other bird would have layed the egg and taken care of it

water is rocket fuel hydrogen and oxyigen

salt is two poisons sodium and chloride

ice is the only solid that floats in it's own liquid form
if it didn't then there would be no life in lakes and rivers becouse the lakes and rivers would freeze bottom to top instead of top to bottom giving life a chance to continue below the ice

personally i think the real answer is more complicated than either of those

on Jan 21, 2007
Exactly, i prefer to think of it as chance. Especially when it comes to evolution.
on Jan 21, 2007
non of it is/was chance or as scientist are now saying an accident

i read this in a noval once and i think i agree with it

life is like a sonnet you can do whatever you want as long as you follow the rules

and our rules are the ten commandments

and if you are not christian or jewish just think of all the other religions and they all have simular rules except maybe the muslims

sorry about my misspells

There are no true 'rules' for the Universe. The Ten Commandments are more moral guidelines than anything, and you need to brush up on your culture. There are plenty of religions that go against many Christian views. Nothing was an acident true, but i dont think any of it was planned, if it was then why all the instability in the world before we came along. And even better why did the world start without us. I mean on geological scale, we have existed for less that 1% of the world's total history. If something did create this world then it had to go through quite a lot of chances and testing to create us. Some all powerful being didnt just raise point at the land and said "LIVE!!". I mean if i was something that powerful i would get bored and go off to do something else, but it matters if this 'being' has a concience or anything, does it feel or think? Who knows, we cant ask it.

there is something i do know and if i told you

you would think i was crazy

and i wouldn't blame you

but i will say this we are the children of god

and as far as the c24 aging tech it doesn't work the way it should

i heard of a lady who dug up some bones

scientist came out and aged them to 10,000 years then lady said they were wrong becouse she had buried her cat a year before in that spot

of course that could have a false story but i don't know for sure

and you are right the 10 commandments are a guide line but tell me what country doesn't follow them no matter what the religion is at least some of them

on Jan 21, 2007
in other words time doesn't exist it is just here to keep everything from happening at the same time

I like this statement. because if your outside of time, yes, everything has already happened and nothing has happened, both at the same time ... 'time'?? hmm wrong concept hehehe
on Jan 21, 2007
isn't that what the bible says god said

Can i ask about carbon dating technique?

if i make a mud brik then carbon date it, would the result show the age of the brik or the mud?

If i process iron ore to steel, would carbon dating show the age of the steel or the iron ore?

If i take hydrogen and oxygen, create water, would carbon dating show the age of the oxygen and hydrogen or the water?

If i freeze water, melt it, make steam, condense it back to water would carbon dating show the age of the original water, the ice, the steam or the final water?
on Jan 22, 2007
I think it would be fairly difficult to carbon date something that contains no carbon.
on Jan 22, 2007
you do understand that you are drinking the same water that the dinosours drank right

you might be able to do it with steel becouse it is carbon that makes iron steel
