I'm just experimenting. I hate the word "blog" and am fascinated with how the net seems to nurture *everyone's* vanity.
And don't you think this n-word should be less common so we fear it rightly?

I don't have math for it, but I know that both my reading and posting on these forums have been on steady upward curves. One of the things that increased my interest in posting was the regular "grammar nazi" talk, and that's in no small part because I'm head of a single income household and I work as an editor and writer on the periphery of IT Land.

So, for any of you who have declared or discretely held "grammar nazi" sympathies, please hold forth on your notions of standards, community, and efficiency.

I'm particularly curious about a few folks who appear to have abandoned "consistent" responses to formal writing errors. If you've noticed that you no longer take every opportunity to correct a post on this forum, why is this so? Have you simply become exhausted by the overwhelming barrage of "bad" English available today, or have you started "picking your battles?" If the latter is at least half true, tell us about your choice criteria, please.

Two more words: anal bleaching (yes, it's real, look it up, I just did yesterday)

You mean you looked it up... or you did it?
And before you get the BVD's in a bunch, it's a joke.

Evil, I resisted the joke. It was too easy. All the same, I'm glad you put it out there.

Just to clarify my position on all of the "dragging up a war that was over" comments I would like to say that it truly amazes me when I see the degree of patriotic blindness that so many people have when it comes to the USA. I never thought people were as stupid as they really are until 9/11. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. And to see some stupid hick, what's his name, Toby Keith I believe, making money with a lame ass song, which was made worse with his lyrics, was just insane. Obviously, my incoherent ranting should be evidence that this subject really bothers me. Patriotic, ha! A true patriot would snuff this government we have running things in a heartbeat. Besides all of that, answer me one final question. How can a rich person do what is in the best interest of the people when said person is so far out of touch with reality simply because of his/her wealth? Bush and the rest of his ilk have no idea what I go through on a daily basis just to feed my family, let alone afford medical, rising food/gas, and every last tax dollar that is squeezed out of me for what? So I can slave for forty plus hours a week and die, that's what I am here for. To make a rich person more wealthy, yeah, I live for it!

On the 9/11 attacks... where are the airplane parts from New York and Washington? It's a rhetorical question because they are nowhere to be found. Instead, we have pictures of a crashed plane in Philadelphia that was purely coincidental. The pictures are as legitimate as the idiotic film clips of the bombing of Sudan with a prominent building with a giant sign--in English--that says PHARMACEUTICAL FACTORY.

To answer your question... they don't bother their pretty little hands with theoretical concepts like "reality." They are more concerned about Miss USA being a ho bag.

Two words: Britney Spears

Two words: Great Depression

You talk of fluff. I'm talking about people who lived through the worst times ever. I'm talking about people who could barely afford potatoes for supper and had the decency to take their potato peelings down to the people that lived under the bridge who couldn't afford even that.

These are the same folks who fought in the Great War that you discuss with such frivolity. Most folks wouldn't know true hard times if it bit them in the ass. The biggest concern most folks face today is when the local Starbucks runs out of Frappachino.

So go ahead and have your silly little conspiracy theories. I truly think that folks tend to live up to the demands placed on them by the times. I think the current generation could stand up to true adversity if it really had to. For your sake, I hope you never do.

BTW, nova this isn't directed at you personally, you just happened to have a quote that segued easily into my post.

Wow... this thread managed to go from a useful discussion of when it is and is not appropriate to critique someone's grammar and spelling, to a mish-mash of 9/11 conspiracy theories and borderline Holocaust denial in only two days.

That's just got to set some kind of record.

It's called the "Thread Highjack Conspiracy".

The objective is to never let a thread go unhighjacked any longer than absolutely necessary.

borderline Holocaust denial

Being ignorant of history isn't the same thing as falsifying it.
(albeit the end results can be frightening alike!)

Two words: Great Depression

Only thing I know that might surpass that is the wave of pestilence that swept through the world around the 14th century,,killing off a full fourth of the population while bringing the whole society to a total standstill.

Most folks wouldn't know true hard times if it bit them in the ass.

Very sad,,very true. So much sadder for that.

For your sake, I hope you never do.

Amen to that.

That's why I said borderline.

That said, I think its safe to say that this thread is long past its period of usefulness, so I'm off to observe its inevitable collapse from a safe vantage point.

Just remember one thing about the deaths... they were mainly brought on because of the Allied bombing

Step away from the crack pipe...

Kryo, I surely appreciate your request when I think about being a responsible moderator for a net forum, but seriously, how can you say "nix the politics" when the game we're here to talk about (and around) is "Galctic Civilizations?"

My best guess is that you haven't rested decently since I used SDC's IRC to watch you staying up too late on the night of the first DA beta release. I'm ready to cut you some slack until DA releases, but after then I might need to hit you with the mom-stick until you show signs of adequate self-care. Recreational combat's no good unless everyone stays healthy.
