I'm just experimenting. I hate the word "blog" and am fascinated with how the net seems to nurture *everyone's* vanity.

Evil did me right by starting his own thread on the "what's a thief" question. But a few posts later in that Grammar nazi sprawl thread, QuietlyObserving says "If we are to be a society founded on the Rule of Law, it would be prudent to maintain a healthy respect for language and the meaning of words, lest we slip into a dictatorship of unelected Judges."

This gives me a painfully beautiful opportunity to start a sister thread to Evil's, and ask you all to sink your fangs, fingers, etc., into the basic question "How does a law rule without a human to interpret and/or execute it?"

That's my latest hasty attempt at a longstanding interest in the gov't-of-law-and-not-men notion that's very popular here in the US. I've also known a few linguists and flirted with other philosphies enough to be taken aback by anyone who has too much certainty about the meaning of a particular word or phrase.

Unless you're a minor with parents who don't want you seeing PG-13 movies (I know we have some sharp youth out there, just want to respect your folks), I suggest finding and playing fword.wav before you finish a reply here.

Now, in not sure which "self-fufiling prophecy" you meant G.W. The one from Statistics and Lab research testing and logistics, or that of religion>

normally i would say that prophesy must be self fulfiling. Except the prophesy of the Bible rely's on supernatural events which disconnects it from being self fulfilling.

ok the british medical system has failed they are now trying to get private industry to take over with the idea that they can not make a profit

as for lower meds in other countries all the countries on the planet except usa regulates prices

so that the companies can make profit they pass the cost of doing business in the other countries on to the usa

if we were to requlate our prices there wouldn't be any meds becouse there wouldn't be anyone makeing them

if you don't believe me i remind you of the year that we ran out of flu vaccines

bill clinton regulated the price that year on the flu vaccine

so the companies used old vaccines and didn't make as much new vaccines as they would have done so

And if happiness relies on family, than i truely do feel sorry for the world, especially with our divorce rate.
.

i agree with this statement which i believe is why the bible discourges divorce except in extreme conditions

danielost tends to be a little vague with his comments. But it is just a matter of asking him to explain his reasoning, i did before and he explained.

You don't know what regulating prices mean. The drug companies sell at whatever price they like to every country. Then the governments of those countries regulate the price to the consumer by covering the balance themselves.

Im an not just talking about divorce. I cant stand my parents, i love them, but cant stand them. Maybe thats just being a teenager, but i respect my friends more than my parents. I personally rely on my friends to come through for me in a tough situation more than my parents.

And as for Socialism, oh no i think your quite wrong. Every single country on this planet is Socialist in one way or another. The US is no exception. Believe it or not taxes are a form of Socialism, income taxes doubly so. See the differance is that they regulate their prices and say they regulate them, here we make up a fancy little term called subsidizing.

Lastly, medical treatement isnt failing, look at Canda

If i am coming off a bit strong its cause i am fairly annoyed with Calc homework and the day just hasnt been going right for me.

it isn't the governments job to keep anyone happy just healthy

it is the families job to keep people happy and healthy

as far as socialism goes it doesn't work

every country that has social medician their medical system is coming apart

Actually i believe Canada has a superb public medical system.

Here in Australia they have been trying to move towards private heath, and you know what the end result is? much more money flowing into rich private health insurance companies to pay for luxury Yachts in the Bahamas instead of going into hospitals. So much more money that if they had simply put all that money into public health in the first place, there wouldn't be a problem!
on Jan 29, 2007
The problem with public health, is that if the government keeps paying for it, benifits would sometimes go to those who dont contribute. Plus there is the whole buerocratic issue.

In that case happiness relies on schooling. Since it is my belief that schools would be far better off teaching children how to get along in relationships and just general mental wellbeing.

What use is it teaching children maths etc etc and ignoring their mental health?
What good is maths knowledge to a teenager who just commited suicide? Oh well at least maths would be useful for divorcing couples to calculate their losses... heaven forbid we should teach them how to better get along in the first place!!!

Beurocracy suffers from the same affliction of comunism... lack of incentive.
Give beurocrats performance bonuses, piss of the idiots wanting to sue (public liability) who scare beurocrats into a legalified coma and see what happens?

however you look at it it costs more money to maintain public health system for the whole country than it does for private companies

also you don't pay for something your not using

and the usa does have public health it just doesn't cover the whole population just those who can't pay for it

and all of that money would still come out of your pocket becouse it is taxes that pay for public health

No, you have to look at it in overall percentages. So basically how much money overall is moving from consumers wallets to health. when you look at private health premiums and how many people have private health cover, you should begin to realise that it is an obsene amount of money and only a small part of it is finding it's way into hospitals, including private hospitals!

This is simply unsustainable IE health crisis worldwide

Most of our money goes towards defense and social security. Education gets about 5% of the national budget, and on a worse note infastructure gets less than 1%.
on Jan 29, 2007
the main difference is the private induster pretty much has to come through on its promise or all of that money goes to another company that will

as for the government they don't have to do it and they don't

even in the usa with the promises to the vets the government barely keeps its promise to them

consumers are the ones who control the prices mostly in an open market

in a closed market it is the companies that control prices with government regs to back them up
